Delta Comfort+ Review: Is the Upgrade Worth It on Domestic Flights?

Delta Comfort+ is one of the most common upgrades travelers see when booking. It sounds appealing, but is it worth paying extra? This review explains what you actually get, what you don’t, and who benefits most.

A quick note on the name

Delta has renamed Comfort+ to Delta Comfort, and the onboard product stayed the same. So reviews of Comfort+ still describe today’s seat. You may see both names online.

What is Delta Comfort+?

Comfort+ is an extra-legroom economy section. You fly in the main cabin, usually near the front, with more space between your seat and the one ahead.

What you get

1. More legroom
Pitch is typically around 34 inches on widebody aircraft and ranges from about 31 to 34 inches on narrowbody planes, compared with roughly 30 to 33 inches in Main Cabin. That often means a few extra inches, which is noticeable if you’re tall.

2. Earlier boarding
Comfort+ passengers board before most Main Cabin passengers, which makes finding overhead space easier.

3. Dedicated overhead bin space
Bins above Comfort+ rows are generally reserved for those passengers, so your carry-on is less likely to be gate-checked.

4. Snacks and drinks
Comfort+ usually includes premium snacks and complimentary drinks on many flights, which adds value on longer trips.

What you don’t get

  • A wider seat. Seat width is generally the same as Main Cabin.
  • A separate cabin. You still share space with the rest of economy.
  • Free checked bags. On domestic flights, checked bag fees generally still apply.

Is it worth it?

It’s worth it if:

  • You are tall or like extra legroom
  • The flight is 3 hours or longer
  • You want early boarding and bin space
  • The upgrade price is small compared with your fare

It may not be worth it if:

  • The flight is under 2 hours
  • You travel light and are comfortable in a normal seat
  • The upgrade costs close to a higher cabin

How much does it cost?

Comfort+ prices aren’t fixed. They depend on route, date, demand and your fare type. SkyMiles Medallion members may get free or discounted upgrades depending on status and availability. Always check the price at booking and again later in Manage Trip.

Tips to get the best value

  1. Compare Comfort+ with Main Cabin on your exact flight.
  2. Check seat maps for the best rows.
  3. Look for upgrade offers by email or in the app.
  4. Use Comfort+ on longer flights, and skip it on short hops.

Comfort+ vs Premium Select

If you want a wider seat, a leg rest and a quieter cabin, Premium Select is the next step up, but it costs much more and is mainly offered on long-haul routes.

Final verdict

Comfort+ is a solid, budget-friendly upgrade for tall travelers and anyone on a longer domestic flight. For short trips, the money may be better saved.
